Town 1-0 Palace Wed 26th Apr 2000 11:06
Town moved to two points behind Manchester City after a David Johnson stunner was enough to beat Crystal Palace. Town switched it about from Saturday with Manu Thetis coming into a three man backline, Martijn Reuser coming into midfield and with Jamie Clapham and Fabian Wilnis as the wide men.
McGreal and Stewart Out Fri 21st Apr 2000 18:14
Neither John McGreal nor Marcus Stewart are included in the Town squad for tomorrow's game at QPR. McGreal's ankle injury could keep him out for the rest of the season, while Stewart will be a possibility for Tuesday's game with Crystal Palace. Town will hope that Chris Kiwomya breaks his regular habit of scoring against Town in the crucial game that could see us go second. Full squad: R Wright, Branagan, Wilnis, Stockwell, Croft, Clapham, Mowbray, Venus, Brown, Thetis, Holland, Magilton, J Wright, Scowcroft, Johnson, Reuser, Naylor, Logan and Bramble
Reuser In? Fri 14th Apr 2000 15:17
Last week's sub star Martijn Reuser may well be in from the beginning as Town attempt to get three points from tomorrow's trip to Stockport. John McGreal may also find himself in the side after missing Town's last couple of games with an ankle injury. Manu Theits is also training after his ankle problem whilst Mark Venus is still feeling his ankle and is rated very doubtful. Keith Branagan injured his groin in the reserves on Wednesday and so will probably not take his place on the bench. James Pullen may get his second go at bench-warming. Full squad: R Wright, Branagan, Pullen, Croft, Clapham, Wilnis, Stockwell, Mowbray, Venus, Brown, McGreal, Holland, Magilton, J Wright, Reuser, Scowcroft, Johnson, Stewart, Naylor, Thetis and Logan.
Injury Worries For Town Fri 07th Apr 2000 14:13
Town have several injury worries before tomorrow's vital home clash with Port Vale.
Defender Injury Crisis Mon 03rd Apr 2000 14:52
John McGreal looks set to miss Town's crunch game at West Brom tomorrow with a twisted ankle. The former Tranmere man was injured in training on Saturday when blocking a shot. As well as McGreal Fabian Wilnis and Gary Croft may also miss out with hamstring and groin injuries respectively. Town have a number of options, Mark Venus might move to left back, Wayne Brown might come in or Manu Thetis may get a recall, as might Mickey Stockwell. In all probability Town will play 4-4-2, but with the personnel situation as it is 5-3-2 may be the way Town shape up. As for the strikers David Johnson and James Scowcroft will probably continue although Marcus Stewart is over the worst effects of his injury. Martin Reuser looks likely to start on the bench. Full squad: R Wright, Branagan, Wilnis, Croft, Stockwell, Mowbray, Venus, Brown, McGreal, Thetis, Holland, Magilton, J Wright, Reuser, Scowcroft, Johnson, Naylor, Stewart and Axeldal.
Tranmere Squad Tue 21st Mar 2000 15:57
Town's squad for tomorrow's game at Tranmere: R Wright, Branagan, Wilnis, Clapham, Stockwell, Croft, Mowbray, Venus, Brown, McGreal, Thetis, Holland, Magilton, J Wright, Scowcroft, Johnson, Stewart, Naylor and Axeldal. As stated earlier McGreal and Stewart are very doubtful starters.
Scowy Very Doubtful Fri 10th Mar 2000 13:41
Town's man of the season so far, James Scowcroft is rated as very doubtful for tomorrow's game at Wolves. The other man missing from Tuesday's 0-0 draw with Blackburn, John McGreal stands a good chance of being fit, although George Burley may stick with Manu Thetis who had an impressive time against the Ewood Park side. Thetis and Fabian Wilnis were singled out for special praise by George Burley and both will be looking for starts at Molineux. Pressuring Wilnis will be Gary Croft who has now recovered from his gashed knee. Also nearing the first team is Mark Venus who came through the reserve game in the week, but is not considered fit enough to start tomorrow. Other centre-half injury problem Titus Bramble has also resumed training, although he is a long way from being fit for first team consideration. George Burley has told Marcus Stewart to be more selfish and to drop deep less. After two goals in his first two games Stewart has failed to find the net in his next three. Probable squad: R Wright, Branagan, Wilnis, Clegg, Clapham, Croft, Stockwell, Mowbray, Brown
McGreal Defintely Out Fri 03rd Mar 2000 13:26
Town centre-half John McGreal has been confirmed as missing from tomorrow's squad for the game with Portsmouth. Hot favourite for his position is Manu Thetis after he came through the reserve game on Wednesday with no ill effects despite a game marking Kevin 'Too Tall' Francis. If he isn't considered match fit enough Matt Holland could find himself at centre-half with Jermaine Wright coming into the midfield. The other contenders are Fabian Wilnis, who recently played a reserve game in the centre, and Gary Croft who has recovered quickly from his gash. Croft, however, is likely to return to his right wing back role with Michael Clegg dropping to the bench. Full squad: R Wright, Salmon, Clegg, Clapham, Wilnis, Stockwell, Croft, Mowbray, Brown, Thetis, Holland, Magilton, J Wright, Scowcroft, Johnson, Stewart, Naylor, Axeldal and Midgley.
Crewe News Fri 18th Feb 2000 14:51
Town travel to Crewe today for tomorrow's clash with Crewe without injury victims Gary Croft, Mark Venus and Manu Thetis. Croft is out with the gashed knee that saw him stretchered off last weekend, whilst Venus is still suffering with his ankle. Thetis injured his ankle in the reserve game on Wednesday. Michael Clegg comes straight into the squad and may well start at right wing back. Full squad: R Wright, Salmon, Wilnis, Clapham, Stockwell, Clegg, Mowbray, McGreal, Brown, Magilton, Holland, J Wright, Scowcroft, Johnson, Stewart, Naylor, Axeldal, Midgley and Logan.
Town Squad for Huddersfield Fri 11th Feb 2000 11:30
Town go into tomorrow's game with Huddersfield with Gary Croft's groin the only worry. The now untagged defender injured himself in training but should be fit. If not Fabian Wilnis is likely to take his place. It will be an especially poignant day for Marcus Stewart, of course, playing against his old club. A hat trick would be the perfect way to celebrate, don't you think? Full squad: R Wright, Salmon, Wilnis, Croft, Clapham, Stockwell, Mowbray, McGreal, Brown, Holland, Magilton, J Wright, Scowcroft, Johnson, Stewart, Naylor, Logan, Axeldal and Midgley.
